Nothing interesting ever happens in Anytown. People hang out with aliens, trees uproot themselves to give lumberjacks a piece of their mind, and kids fight crazy giant squirrels. Of course, there are also men plotting world domination. Yeah, Anytown is pretty ordinary. Join Miles and his friends and explore "Homeland," the wacky suburban adventure.
Homeland is a game that takes lots of influence from Earthbound, without being a fangame but presenting original setting and characters sent in the America of the '90s. The jokes have a sort of cartoon sitcom edge to it, and the game follows the Earthbound formula pretty closely. The game is pretty difficult at least until you get the second party member, anyway the demo is not very long, but stands out for its original graphics, mixed with some chipsets made by Shardicefire and few Earthbound rips.
Random Fact: Ragnar from the Gaming World was the composer for this game, and was a very experimental artist. The music really leans in the psychedelic aspects but it’ll even have
unexpected vocal samples. There’s a lot of speed up and slow down or
record skips mixing that feels like DJ club music.
Final Verdict: this game has been defined a sort of crude Earthboun, and for a fan of the original game probably it doesn't even come closer. And yet it's a really peculiar game that doesn't present the usual fantasy epic, but rather an exaggeration of the american society.
