BETA by Milennin

Beta is the first rpg by Milennin, prequel of another game called Fade: in this game we control Roth the Thundergod, a stereotypical sword wielding adventurer and blonde hero protagonist that sometimes can switch to God Mode and becomes the real God of Thunder. Unfortunately Roth is also a troublemaker and a jerk, and his friends are probably even worse. The first is Rage, something like a half barbarian and half demon, 100% dumb, attuned to the element of Fire, and the second is Roth's brother Thieme, a cool young man with the power of Earth.

BETA is a 3-hours quest-driven RPG with a focus on lighthearted dialogue. Some quests will also present the player with mini-games or challenges that the player has to beat in order to progress. Along the way, you will be presented with choices as well, some of which will have an impact on the outcome of the story in the game. To find things to do you have to explore the game world. Talk to NPC's or interact with objects to find new things to do.
There is no ATB combat or traditional Jrpg exploration, and no inventory or party management, because despite this game being set in a stereotypical fantasy setting, this is totally an adventure game.

Random Fact: BETA was created in RPG Maker 2000, and was originally meant to be a test map for a much bigger project. This game was originally created back in 2007, and finally released in early 2013. This newest version is an update of the original game, but overhauls a lot of the game's feature and dialogues, providing many quality of life changes and overall improvements, as well as adding new content.

Random Fact: Beta is a game that made me smile several times (but never really laugh out loud) and spend some time with its query characters and weird situations. I had fun, and I think that graphics and sounds are really good, but story and characters are a bit lacking, but that's understandable being this the first game. Anyway yes, this is Beta, pretty good and clever in some parts, shallow and lacking in others, but without problematic issues like game breaking bugs and other serious flaws. Try it and see if you can enjoy and play it from the beginning to the end... surely if you like adventure games and cartoons you will find the experience rather entertaining.
