Epic Elf 2 by Spirit Young

Dagree is back and ready for another chapter in his life! He was cursed by the "Red Evil" from his visit to Vitality Island. Though destroyed, Red Evil isn't gone! In fact, he sometimes appears before Dagree and offers to help him now. After living in a cave for a year, Dagree decides it's about time to finally get outside and land a job!
And of course, a new evil haunts the land that must be punished! Oh, yeah!

Epic Elf 2 is much more than an upgraded version of the first game: it features a series of areas, towns, forests, plains, a desert and so on, a small world but one full of details and also dynamic, since the roaming encounters will change and some areas will be revisited due to some... changes that will happen (cannot say more). In the beginning there are some roadblocks (such as giant boulders in the middle of the road) that will have to be removed, initially limiting the exploration to some locations.
Combat this time happens only on touch with roaming opponents, except for the mandatory boss battles.

Random Fact: once again the game is available in regular version or the 2017 that fixed and rebalances some battles, unfortunately it doesn't add new content, and that's a pity since some material originally planned was cut from the game. For example Hex. a character of the first game, was originally planned to be a party member in this game too. But unfortunately it didn't happen.

Final Verdict: Epic Elf 2 is a classic, and as I wrote in the review of the first game, my favourite in the series. The only thing I did NOT like is the rarity of the save points (or maybe more playable characters, since Hex from Epic Elf 1 was also planned to play a role in the party of this game), anyway there isn't anything else I can criticize, because this is a really epic and fun game. Mapping is excellent and the setting is full of life and surprises. In a word, it's FUN.

Epic Elf by Spirit Young

In this quest you play as a Dark Elf named Dagree. He's a simple treasure hunter who is normally feared by humans. For some reason, the citizens of Vitality Island aren't scared of him except for the naughty Royal Family. Along the way you can make choices in the game that determine what side character you'll end up with.

The story itself is easy to follow and doesn't really need to be serious.
Most of the characters that you talk to probably rode on the short bus.

Other main characters come into the play as well. If you join up with the wizard he'll have his own problems that come into light during the quest for you. If you kill the wizard you get a thief to replace the loss. If you don't talk to everyone, future quests won't become available and you'll miss out on items, weapons, or hidden bosses. There are also abilities that your characters can learn (pushing stones, raiding houses).

Epic Elf is a really epic adventure of 10 hours that will take the dark elf Dagree from rags to riches. Or so is the intent: the game isn't some epic quest to save the world, but rather the exploration of a large isle that hold a great treasure. Of course a dark elf like Dagree isn't liked by humans, however, starting with his trusty slime Drip, he will have to form a party of adventures, collect equipment and start exploring dungeons. The story has a goofy tone and it's a parody of the more serious jrpgs.

The game is a pretty classic adventure that uses RTPs and the usual Rpgmaker combat system, although maps are really well done. Enemies are both fought in random encounters and in touch encounter, depending on the map. Speaking about maps, the world map is pretty compact, but it will be necesssary to open some roadblocks to progress in the adventure.

Random Fact: the game was completed in 2012, and that version is still available, but in 2013 a new version was added, with more sidequests, bosses, secret items and even a different ending.

Final Verdict: Epic Elf may be an old game with pretty generic visuals, but it was really done with attention to the details and the particular care typical of some games that look like something bland and generic due to the use of the old RTPs, but they hide some real fun! Another example of this is Everlasting Journey, so do not let the lack of original assets deceive you, because this is an entertaining game of exploration, humor... and also battles, even if this is maybe the aspect that probably could have been perfected (well it's an old game made with an old engine, ok?), anyway I did not mind. This is without doubt a well done classic rpgmaker adventure!

Panzer by Orochii

Year is 2651. A world in war. Two factions reign and conquered most part of the entire planet.
The army of the kingdom of Reigarn, with huge power and politic influence.
And the tribes of the Urok, with heavy numbers and born for the battlefield.
The fight continued on and on, and for that matter, a small group parted on a mission to stop it in a movement, once and for all.

Panzer was an experimental game, a short visual novel adventure with battles. In this game the protagonist isn't a party of character but a mech, that's divided into various parts: left arm, right arm, head and body, each one can be upgraded separately and equipped with different instruments, and in the end it's more or less like playing  party of four characters...  the assets are ripped from various old games from Front Mission to Metal Slug.

Random Fact: there are two cheatcodes for this game:

MONEYBAGS - Gives you 5000$ as starting money.
GIVMEWANZER - Gives you an overpowered starting panzer.

Final Verdict: this game is clearly an experiment, and it's not perfect at all: aside from the imperfect translation from the original spanish version (for example loot mention is in spanish even in the english version, but come on, this is not a tragedy), it is quite simple, linear and repetitive but not without its charm. For a 1-2 hours game it's pretty good, especially because it has many clever ideas and aspects that were probably limited by the time constraits. That's a pity, anyway it's still a playable game and a different experience from the usual fantasy adventures, and I would not mind at all a more modern and complex remake at all.

So Panzer was an interesting experiment, I know that some people may not like it, and others instead had fun with it and loved the aestetics (this Front Mission redux feel), like me... so I decided to set for a middle ground rating.

Bikini Smoker - ビキニスモーカー Part 1 & 2 by Bokkyguy (japanese)

Bikini Smoker - ビキニスモーカー, like Psycho Platoon, is a visual novel with battles in two parts. It starts with a couple of girls (in bikini, of course) exploring a ship and fighting bizarre enemies. Soon they will found that a poweful enemy is opposing them, none other than Ronald McDonald.

WARNING: the game includes some sexy scenes and inuendos, nothing explicit.

Bikini Smoker is the first game released by Bokkyguy (Kazuyoshi Hashimoto), and it's a shorter and simpler game compared to Psycho Platoon: combat is simpler and animations are less flashy, still original and well made. Still no levels, no random battles, no equipment managements, levels or other rpg elements. The adventure is also linear, except for the second part that has two possible epilogues, and one links to one of the endings of Psycho Platoon. This game received also a spin-off doujin game.

Random Fact: in this game characters may heal smoking cigarettes, that they have in limite quantity and are automatically restocked after each battle. This is the reason why the game is called Bikini Smoker, of course.

This is a direct sequel from the first game following the last battle on the broken down ship. Later the two girls are joined by a third girl to fight a series of selected warriors of the enemy organization before the final battle.

Aside for the addition of a new playable character there isn't much else added to the game compared to the first half of the story. The difficult doesn't increase nor the characters add new abilities or more hitpoints. Clearly there are more silly characters and more battles, and a final choice that will determine the epilogue for the story, good or bad.

Rmarchiv.de

Random Fact: the third girl that joins the team is none other than a schoolmate and best friend of the psychic pyromancer of Psycho Platoon, and appears in both games, but she's playable only here. Meanwhile the protagonist of this game appeared in the epilogue of Psycho Platoon, and onf od the endings of this game also connects with that game.

Final Verdict: a little game, really simpler than Psycho Platoon for simpler mechanics, graphics and story. However it's still a well made short visual novel adventure, the custom animations and art are really pretty good.

The Sword & the Fish - The second greatest story ever told by scumdrop

You are Clifford, a scrubby hick with a penchant for amorality, sarcasm, and thumping stuff before thinking. Along with his comrades, Clifford travels a twisted path towards his great fate: to be the one destined to "try" and fight Gwar, the demonic villain whose name is only coincidentally after the 80's metal band. Along this path your journeys take many unstereotypical routes - such as a Battle of the Bands, DNA cloning, ghost pirate sea ballads, and an infectious disease that sounds more like a cereal. The journey also contains particularly stereotypical routes - such as the Generic Tower, discussions over whether towers are more evil than caves, and the Island of Too Many Towers.

The Sword & the Fish is a very old Rpgmaker game, and the second most downloaded, or so they said. It's a very long and epic humorous adventure of a group of friends in a fantasy world that form a rock band but end fighting demons and travel through time becoming heroes, and opposing also the "real predestined hero" (that unsurprisingly has the classic Alex RTP charset). The game includes the cameo of various characters real or imaginary, such as Chun Li from Street Fighter II, and is pretty entertaining.
The game site includes several extras, like a comic and a guide for the setting and details on all the playable party members.

Random Fact: The Sword & the Fish is a game created in 2000 and  completed in 2006, however it got a 2020 version. You can find this special version here: https://rpgmaker.net/games/11653/
This upgraded version removes Kid Rock from the game and upgrades the dialogues, making them more grammatically correct and PG-friendly, removing some profanities and vulgar language. For the rest the game isn't any different.

Final Verdict: the Sword and the Fish plays better than he looks, it's funny and probably one of the longest and best comedic/parody Rpgmaker games. I had fun and I wasted a lot of my time in this game, and, most importantly, I played it to the end! This is because the game entertained me from the beginning to the end, and while I find that there are some parts that could have been improved, I saw a lot of care for what regards the musical choice, the storyline and the character progression (at mid point most party members take an upgrade that is also reflected with a change of their appearance!). In the end this is not a bad game, it's a nice game with some frustrating dungeons with random encounters (but they are short), so in the end on the surface we have a normal jrpg with comedy, parody and weird (but great) dialogues. But this made it fun since it's entertaining, balanced and well designed, but this will be noticed only if you play it!

Lasting Dreams & Demon Dreams by Infinity

An evil politician has gained immeasurable power. Defend the world from evil! Explore several dangerous dungeons. Solve clever puzzles of cunning and skill. Collect resourceful weapons and magic. Defeat deadly bosses and monsters. Collect mystifying treasure. Play challenging and creative mini-games. Airship battle against dragons and level up offensive capabilities!

Lasting Dreams borrows inspiration from The Legend of Zelda. It uses unique Rm2k3 Run-Time Package edits with side scrolling map design. The custom built RM2k3 action combat system is functional, layered, and intuitive. The game uses classic RTP assets but the maps are made in a way that makes the game feel like a sidescrolling platform adventure.

Random Fact: the same year in which this game was made (2015) the developer released a demo of a similar game with a similar name: Demon Dreams, but unfortunately this was never completed. See below for this extra.

Final Verdict: Infinity did an amazing job with this game! It's a wild adventure that will see our chubby pirate turning turning himself into a skeleton, turning enemies into chickens, and perform other cool deeds I won't tell you not to spoil the game! Anyway there is space for improvement in two parts: the first is the story, the bad guy has its powers and goals, but our silent protagonist and the supporting cast could have been more detailed (still, this is an action game, so this is not a terrible problem). The second issue is that in some levels it's not clear what you are supposed to do, and being this a game in which different mechanics are being introduced as you progress, it's mandatory to experiment, just don't expect to always receive a clear indication on what you should do next!

I admit that I had a lot of fun with this game, and it was like playing one of these old colorful Amiga platform games of the 90s that merged shooter sections to adventure parts introducting also NPCs that required finding items. Yes, this is an old, classic concept but rather unusual for an rpgmaker game.

EXTRA - Demon Dreams: “There was once a greedy emperor who possessed a great legion of demons. He desired complete control over every aspect of men in his empire, even control over their dreams.

An old merchant, who was rumored to have once been a great adventurer, presented the king with a powerful turtle demon that had the ability to manipulate the dreams of men.
The king immediately decided he wanted it and commanded the merchant to give him the demon.
The merchant refused but offered it to the king on the condition that he defeat the demon in battle to prove he was worthy.
The king was outraged at the merchant’s arrogance and ordered his guards to seize him and capture the demon. The merchant quickly explained that the demon only obeyed those who defeated it in battle.
The king then hatched a cunning plan; he would call his bravest, most loyal soldier to defeat the demon. So the soldier was brought forth to face the mighty demon.  The creature did not use its claws in combat, but its power over the mind, and sucked the soldier into a dangerous dream land where he would be forced to fight not the demon owned by the merchant, but the demons inside his own head…” ~Beanius Maximus

Without offering a lot of adventure but focusing on the action, Demon Dreams is a shoot-em-up exploration game that uses a similar system to the one seen on Lasting Dreams, in fact the interface is nearly identical, except it is positioned on the upper side on the screen and not on the lower side. The system this time focuses on shooting and the protagonist can fly.

Random Fact: there isn't a lot of story aside for the beginning plot, that leaves a lot unexplained, anyway this was just a demo version, so it's expected to be lacking of many planned features and content.

Final Verdict: despite the similar name and an apparently similar system, this is a very different game from Lasting Dreams. The game despite being a demo offers a fluid gameplay of action shooting.

Mana Conquest by Ramza

The boy Rolf wakes up to an ordinary day in his tiny forest village of Ur. During a routine excursion to the forest with his friend Melissa, the village is attacked by a former resident, a man named Theo. After wiping out the entire town, Theo decides to allow Rolf to live. Rolf spends the next years of his life training to defeat that man and avenge his family and friends.

Mana Conquest is a story driven rpg adventure: there are five playable characters, a change party 'reserve' system allows you to choose who is in your party at a given time. While it uses the DBS, there are strategic twists to make it a bit more interesting. There are no random encounters, either. While it is, for the most part a standard RPG, there are sci-fi elements in the storyline as well. It provides somewhere between 14-16 hours of gameplay. Features a lot of customized graphics (notoriously bad faceset designs) and an almost entirely custom musical score.

Mana Conquest was supposed to be the first game of a trilogy, unfortunately only this entry was completed, and the second game was released as a demo.

Random Fact: one of the first obstacles that Rolf has to face is a quiz about the names of people, items and locations of the first part of the game. Thankfully the developer wrote the answers on the Rpgmaker.net page so that you can pass that part without much hassle.

Random Fact: Mana Conquest is basically a prototype for Mana Conquest: Vengeance, its sequel that more or less begins from a similar situation and offers some similar pushing boulder puzzles, battles with wandering enemies and exploration. The game is ok, some things could have been mich better and in fact the sequel with address these issues, for example mapping and battles, that while not terrible, they were perfected and improven in the next game, that's still in many aspects more of the same.

Scogno's Adventure by Scogno (italian)

Scogno is a boy that lives with his family in a little village, and dreams to be a hero. He has a terrible temperament, and after getting fed up with the miserable conditions of their lives, he decides to leave his town. His father Pippo gives him a sword, the mother Francy gives him few money and he also gets a potion from his sister. Reaching the first village he discovers that many heroes are here to start a crusade against the monsters that are invading the country, sent by the evil Malefix. However Scogno sleeps until late morning, when everyone else already left the village, except for the sorcerer Dale that joins him in the first of his many adventures around the world.

Scogno's Adventure is a very old Rpgmaker 2000 adventure game released in 2003. It's a pretty long parodistic epic story about the rise to power of a jerkass hero that has great ambitions but he's a coward at heart. Of course the journey will not only turn him into a really powerful warrior, but he will also meet a series of quirky characters that will join him in his adventures.
The game is a fantasy parody with lots of references to popular media in particular anime and videogames: Dragonball, Final Fantasy VII, Excel Saga, Evangelion and others are referenced here.

Random Fact: it's not a coincidence that the name of the developer is the same of the protagonist: at the time, early 2000, italian Rpgmaker games were in many cases "Lol games", that's a category used to indicates humorous and parodistic adventures made among friends, starring themselves. The games sometimes featured sophomoric or crude humor and always used the default rpgmaker combat system.
Despite this, some like Scogno's Adventure were actually completed and done well enough to be appreciate also by non-friends of the developer.

Final Verdict: while not perfect, and including some errors and minor issues, this was an old classic with lots of content, many playable characters, an arena for extra battles and so on. A pretty impressive game at the time.

DEEP 8 by IndependentArt

The planets of the DEEP 8 universe are populated by different races like for example the mighty Droons with their green martialness, the furry Dominators, also called Summoners or the normally peace loving Dayigons, which is also the race, our protagonist Ramirez belongs too.

Ramirez might be the shyest individual, that you could ever encounter. Aside from being a social cripple, he’s a respectable fighter and reliable employee.
His female partner Meling is not a very pleasant companion. She’s barely talking to him and when she does, she usually does it in an insulting or humiliating way, which not really raises his confidence. Aside form being a real fury, Meling weilds a gigantic axe in battle, which enables her to crush any enemy they encouter.
Ramirez and Meling work for the emperor Vagnus of Antia. That is a big city on planet Lisarya, which is mostly populated by Dayigons.

For some weeks now, the people are very anxious, cause’ they seem to face a really great threat. They even have to fear the extinction of their race.
The Droons, allways known for martial behaviour seem to have set their mind to committing a genocide on the Dayigons. They used a weapon called Pluz-Cannon to vaporize several planets and raided others with ground forces. Now they are planning on destroying Lisarya as well with one big bang, but they ran out of the rare mineral Pluz. As soon as they find a new source for it, they would equip their cannon with it and blow up Lisarya immediately. Millions of Dayigons would be dust within a blink.

Deep 8 is a story driven sci-fi adventure/rpg with custom graphics and system: the game includes quicktime events, minigames and puzzles to make the adventure rather varied. The setting is original and this is a journey that takes places on many different planets and locations, including many quests and subquests.

Random Fact: the complete version includes both the english e german version in the same package. The language is selectable when starting the game. From 2023 this game was released as free to play.

Final Verdict: Deep 8 is an interesting game, that while not perfect has many interesting moments (including a section where you will be running around with a flamethrower! And battles between robots!) and a suggestive setting with various alien races and environments. In a certain sense this sci-fi setting reminds of Albion, an RPG released in 1996 by BlueByte Software, with the difference that here we'll be travelling between different planets. Combat is quite complex and pretty challenging, but grinding won't help much, a good strategy is surely more useful, but do not forget to look around for supplies and useful additional items. The only real problem I found were some jumps that required an exceptional (for me!) timing, anyway you can always re-try since they do not lead to Game Over, so it's not frustrating. Could have been worse!

In the end I find DEEP 8 to be an excellent product, with just some minor flaws but really engaging and well made.

Chantlicoatl by Zombiczek (polish)

Spain during the reign of King Philip II of Habsburg: with the beginning of naval expeditions to the new land, a golden age began for Spain. But this wealth came at the cost of innocent blood. Over time, colonies began to emerge on the new continent, all paying tribute to the king. All but one — located in the western swamplands and commanded by the renowned and celebrated general Enrique.

Fearing a rebellion that could damage his reputation and pride, the king secretly sends his man — prosecutor Hernando Manzanares — to the new land, keeping it hidden from the other camps. His Holiness Pope Pius IV, concerned about the situation for his own reasons, decides to support Philip II. Manzanares is to be accompanied by a Vatican envoy — Father Inquisitor Adalbert Rivero.

Will they be able to uncover the reason behind Enrique’s disobedience?
A great mystery lies hidden in the swamps, waiting to be revealed.

In the game, the player will play as prosecutor Hernando, accompanied by Father Adalbert.
This is a linear adventure where the two protagonsits will have to traverse the swamplands, battle wild animals, interrogate Enrique’s men, visit a supposed gold mine, and even cooperate with the local indigenous people. In addition to the story and adventure elements, the game also features systems inspired by classic RPGs — exploration, finding hidden chests and caches, collecting trophies, trading with merchants, equipping better gear, and learning various skills. Among them: herbalism, lockpicking, and learning the language of the natives.

Random Fact: the game was originally made and released in 2020, in polish. At the moment an english translation is in the works, along with a game update that will improve the gameplay.

Final Verdict:
like Ronin, another game from this developer, Chantlicoatl is not a very long game, but has a nice graphics and some neat features. This time the game has more classical rpg aspects, like the avoidable dangerous fauna, still it's a pretty original adventure.

Despoina by PianoTm & Lavendersiren

Welcome to the land of Nepherenos, where those gifted in the study of magic are somehow both valued and exploited for their talents. Enter Poah, a knight sent to fetch a briefly incarcerated wizard by the name of Seulk. Supposedly the queen of this land had sent a summons for all mages to travel to the capital: Sitan City, and Poah is carrying out the escort mission for this particular one.

Who can you trust in this world when everyone vies for the power of a spellcaster at their side? What does the queen need with every mage in the land anyways? And is Poah even really who he says he is?
There's only one way to find out!

Despoina is a classic rpg adventure: we visit various locations, roam the world map and travel through the world to reach the final destination and uncover the mystery of the request of the queen. It's a simple and pretty linear journey, but there are enough "extra details" that makes the game, and I mean strange characters, weird epitaphs and other funny things and interactions, plus few optional locations. For the rest it's a classical rpg adventure with many avoidable battles and some obligatory bossfights.
The game also uses Kentona's caterpillar system, meaning that the party members aren't represented by a single party member, but will walk one behind the other.

Random Fact: this game was made for the 2022 Swap in 3 Middle with You event at RMK.net, first half by Pianotm, and the other half by lavendersiren.

Final Verdict: Despoina is a cool game despite some imprecisions (such as some badly contourned potraits and empty areas that in any case have nothing to do with the story and are just some extra places that could probably not exist) probably due to the lack of time for refinement the game is good, and the story is interesting. As mentioned before the beginning and the end were especially great, the middle half is enough, but still it made me play until the very end to see what was going to happen to our two heroes. So in the end for me this was a good game, despite the limitations imposed by the event.

Dhux's Scar by Kefka Kun aka Erilex

Dhux's Scar follows the misadventures of Elijah, a lowly, mediocre merchant that is suddenly faced with the chance of a lifetime: To earn a huge fortune by betraying the trust of one innocent little girl. Of course, things won't work out quite as smoothly as he intended. Little does he know that he is about to be dragged into a ruthless battle between powers that defy human comprehension. There will be blood. And tears.

Dhux's Scar or, as its original title, La Cicatriz de Dhux, is a 2009 story driven, dark fantasy adventure rpg with religious overtones. The game is well known for its challenging battles, because only one of the party members is really cut for battles, the others are a little girl and a weak merchant that can only do some real damage using magical amulets that are in limited supply. The game uses custom assets and includes two possible epilogues to the story.

Random Fact: the game was originally made in Rpgmaker 2000 using RTP assets only, then the developer introduces some custom graphics: facesets, charsets, enemies were changed and some slides with custom art were introduced, giving the peculiar look of the game, that still includes some default Rpgmaker graphics. See for example below how a particular scene looks now and how it looked before.

Last version of the game was also translated in traditional chinese.

Final Verdict: oh I liked a lot "Dhux's Scar", even if this game was punishing with its Megaten difficulty (from Shin Megami Tensei. Yes, if you did not play that game note that it was pretty hard, and Dhux's Scar is pretty difficult too especially due to some really tough boss fights! And the bad placement of the save points!). Nonetheless what I just wrote enjoyed playing this game, even if its strongest point is clearly the engaging story with its mature themes and incredible twists, complemented by lots of custom made assets that makes the game pretty much recognizable with its unique enemies and cutscenes. And the characters? Well, all the cast is very interesting and still none of these individuals is a classic stereotypical rpg archetype, because this game is not a classic rpg game, of course. But is it good? Very good, not perfect due to the flaws mentioned below, but still excellent!

Death Proclaimed II - Valerie's Letter by Fidchell

DP2 - Valerie's Letter is a subscenario focusing on Valerie and her endeavors before the arrival of Cory. While being stalked by a mysterious power, Valerie wakes up in her room to another day of hopelessness. She is surrounded by a ghost town, and the only beings she knows exist around her are the violent, overprotective spirits of her siblings.

Valerie has no idea what to do with her empty life. A strange presence lingers in the depths of her damaged mind, forcing her eyes to see horrible things that defy the reality Valerie is familiar with.
She tries hard to endure this strange force within her each day, until one day she receives a strange letter from under her bedroom door. It is signed by her close friend, Leah, who lives in a large mansion nearby the Bhamen Village. In this letter, Leah summons Valerie to her for reasons unknown.

Valerie, carrying new hope that her life is not completely demolished, goes on a desperate search for answers.

If Death Proclaimed II was an upgrade of the first game with a different story, this Death Proclaimed II - Valerie's Letter makes little difference: the game still offers a classic survival horror adventure in real time focused on exploration and combat. It's a prequel of the second game, where many characters of the previous adventure return, anyway it's suggested to play the at least that game to enjoy fully this game.
Still, there are new enemies, weapons and additions to the usual system.

Random Fact: Death Proclaimed II - Valerie's Letter is a spin-off but it can be considered a third episode of the series, anyway it's the only entry which is focused more on ranged battles rather than melee. This doesn't mean that the protagonist won't get in close combat with some opponents, however some bosses may only be fought from distance.

Final Verdict: Death Proclaimed II: Valerie's Letter offers the ultimate and best version of the action battle system introduced in the first game, unfortunately to understand the story and have fun you also have to play the previous episodes, of course! Good combat, but also good story and good scares, and good puzzles too. And also a great atmosphere, I was really surprised by this and how this series has reached a really good quality (just look at the maps in the pictures I posted: they're much better than the previous ones, and also better than the locations of many other horror rpgmaker games) that makes me give a better rating than the previous episodes. Really well done!

Death Proclaimed II by Fidchell

A young man named Cory lives with his aunt in a deep part of the woods near the city Winterveer. Cory has absolutely no recollection of his days before he was eight years old, but for the years after, he has lived peacefully with his aunt with no troubles.

One night, his aunt goes to Winterveer and does not return home for at least two weeks. Cory, not used to being alone for such an amount of time, takes it upon himself to venture out to the city and find her himself. It quickly becomes evident, however, that this trek is not going to be as easy as he thought. His simple journey to Winterveer will reveal itself to be the path of a horrible darkness, and one that seems to have a purpose in helping Cory remember his past.

Like the first Death Proclaimed, this is another solitary survival horror adventure in real time in which we have to survive the monsters that infest the misty city. The game uses an improved system compared to the first game, with a better inventory menu and

Random Fact: the second and third game are quite separated from the first, and coincidentally they are the only ones that have a guide. To be honest, the first one used to have a guide/walkthrough included with the game, anyway the developer said it's really outdated and useless.

Final Verdict: Death Proclaimed II is more of the same compared to the first one, but adds some welcomed improvements that makes the game more interesting and enjoyable. There are still some aspects that could be improved, like the puzzles and some areas, but for the most part it was a pretty fun dark adventure with some interesting moments. The game encourages replays since apparently there is more than one ending (and also you need to replay the game to unlock the boomerang, anyway I played through this game only once).
This is an old game, but yes, after playing the first game I think that progresses were made. Clearly it's not new or original, but being a sequel it was pretty much predictable and unavoidable! Anyway it's pretty good!

Death Proclaimed by Fidchell

A young woman named Alice returns to her hometown to end the haunting visions and grotesque dreams that plague her constantly. Her mind was filled with unanswered questions and the only way she believes she could put them to rest was by visiting the town once again. When she arrives to the desolate town, she discovers strange and hostile creatures lurking within. Still motivated by her quest for answers, Alice fights past the monsters with the sole incentive to ease her troubled mind.

With many influences by Silent Hill, Death Proclaimed was the first game of a trilogy, and probably not the best, but still one good introductive chapter, even if a bit rough: in fact this game features a Custom Battle System and Menu System. It also features a Custom Health Bar, intense gameplay, and a gripping story. This game has three endings that depend solely upon how you play the game and what certain items you are able to get.

Random Fact: this series was quite liked by Gibmaker, the author of The Longing Ribbon, that gave an ok score to this entry, an excellent score to the sequel and even playtested the third game.

Final Verdict: while this last version is still far from perfect (again, I often mentioned the problems that has Rpgmaker 2000/2003 with making action/real time games, that are realized a bit better with other engines, no matter what), it corrected several issues and flaws. Anyway even if the gameplay was not the top for me (especially when bosses are encountered, maybe I'm too bad ehe! But I also hate those teleporting enemies) I cannot deny that graphics and atmosphere where pretty much very good, and music and sounds complemented all of this. The effects, like the lights and darkness and the atmospheric phenomenas are also used very well, where, for example, many other horror games exceed with the use of fog and darkness. On a last note, there isn't really anything visually disturbing except for the occasional dead body or spray of blood, still the atmosphere of dread and impending danger is pretty effective. Not bad.
