Garland, the main antagonist in Final Fantasy, is going to be defeated
once again by the Warriors of Lights: in fact he lives a loop where the
heroes defeat him each time. But NOT this time! The power of the Dark
Orb and a mysterious helper make him able to win the final battle.
However he then wakes up somewhere in a dungeon with no memories except
of his own name... what is going on?
The Garland Enigma, originally named The Garland Empire, is a humorous fangame, and a parody of the source material: we play as a single character, whose class can be chosen among those of the first Final Fantasy, and then the game becomes a classic Rpgmaker adventure with some optional minigames included. The game uses edits from FF but also music from other games, for example Mortal Kombat.
Random Fact:
in the beginning, even before the prologue starts, we have to choose
the composition of the Warriors of Light. Mind that even if the game
does not explain this, the first class we will choose is the class of
the first character and our alter ego that we play in the game when the
real adventure starts.
Final Verdict:
a parody, not just of FF, but of the whole jrpg genre. Very
entertaining, unfortunately incomplete, like most of the games by
Rodpop.
