The setting of Element of Chaos is a dark, decadent, and bloodthirsty world where a tragic event has irreparably altered the planet's geography, erasing the Earth's crust and forcing all creatures on Earth to take refuge on small floating islands. The people, who until then had coexisted peacefully with wizards, sorcerers, and various magical beings, now feel terrified of magic, and the Inquisition, taking advantage of this, unleashes a bloody hunt aimed at exterminating every magical creature in existence.
Due to this situation, the protagonist Ariel, an eccentric and opportunistic vampire intent on recovering a magic ring she has set her sights on, finds herself in trouble with the inquisitors.
An excellent game, visually impressive, that includes many different ideas from the use of powers to solve some tasks, various diversions like stealth sections and enigmas, battles an much more. The game is also stylish and solid, uses custom made menus and systems. An example is that you can press the spacebar to run instead of walking.
Random Fact: Element of Chaos, a demo made for a contest in 2009, isn't the first adventure of Ariel the vampiress: in fact she was already the protagonist of another game made in 2002 and called Death Fantasia: The Last Night. See below for this first adventure.
Final Verdict: one of the best games made in the Rpg2s site, and despite being a demo it offers 4-5 hours of adventures, with various playable characters. Much better than the first game of course.
EXTRA - Death Fantasia: where Element of Chaos is more serious and dark, Death Fantasia is a lighthearted adventure of the young vampiress Ariel and her first hunt. Even if she is rather inexperienced, her father send her to learn to feed and also asks her to steal a relic for him: the Oracle of Marduk.
Death Fantasia is a quite short but complete lighthearted adventure originally made for an event. The game offers some unusual abilities like the Bat Form that is optimal for exploring, but makes Ariel quite weaker and the monstrous Blood Form used to attack and feed, that instead makes everyone hostile.
Random Fact: most of the important dialogues happen in first person in front of the other person(s) that often assumes various poses and expressions during the scene. Nice sprites and backgrounds for this unusual choice.
Final Verdict: more light hearted, and more similar to a cute little story compared to the epicness of Element of Chaos, this is still an enjoyable adventure.
