Reno Grieves is a gunslinger in a post-apocalyptic world that used to work for Don Guido, a mafia boss. After fleeing from the gangsters due to a disagreement, he saves a girl, Rayne, attacked by a patrol of soldiers, the TYR or Tactical Yggdrasil Response, the corporative security. Reno is searching for his mother, and from the slums of Midgard he plans to reach the Asgard sector using the Nidhogg line train. Rayne, grateful for his help, decides to assist him in his travels.
Ten Thousand Bullets is a game that starts with an amazing intro cutscene. The author did an excellent hob with custom animations and edited sprites, but is also made a skill tree for each character. For the rest we have a classic party-based rpgmaker adventure game with random battles, boss encounters, exploration and the occasional puzzle, even if the post-aplocalyptic setting is clearly pretty original among the Rpgmaker games.
Random Fact: Ten Thousand Bullets takes a lot of inspiration from the first part of FVII: we have some similarities, like the classic evil corporation and their rebel opponents, a mafia don, a character named Reno, Biggs and Wedge, and locations named after the norse mithology, like Midgar/Midgard. The world is also pretty dark like the Midgar area.
Final Verdict: while the dungeons with the random battles aren't really exciting, the civilized areas were done with lots of attention to the details, unique custom made characters and sprites. Combat encounters likewise use some awesome custom made battlers, even if I don't understand why protagonists grow bigger when attacking. In any case a pretty cool adventure game with a cool protagonist and title too!
