Vampiros by Calunio

Alef is a young vampire living the International University of Vampires. Even though he inhabits the top of the vampire society hierarchy, some day he gets fed up with the predictability of his own life and the boredom of his immortality. Defying the rules and conventions of his group, he breaks free from the University and sets on a journey to find out the origin of his kind and the purpose of his own life and identity. He will have to face several enemies, including a recurring rival, but luckily he will also find allies during his adventure.

Vampiros is a short, one hour Rpgmaker 2000 story driven adventure about a young vampire and his three allies that will help him to discover the origins of his race. The game is linear but has some interesting features, for example characters, being vampires, regenerate and are revived immediately after each battle. You can also save anytime, and difficulty is well balanced, with some interesting enemies that can switch form and even resurrect dead allies.

Random Fact: this game was initially made by the developer in portoguese, as a Christmas gift to a friend, and its translation came with some polishing of maps and systems.

Final Verdict: for a little game, this was surprisingly enjoyable, with an interesting and unusual setting and characters. The music is in particular well selected and appropriate.
