A Gate into Eternity by Kokibi

Terra is a world with a dark past, its secrets hidden only in ancient ruins. Here, the young cat-man Lynx searches for a medicine for his mother, but can his elven companion, Schwarzwald, truly be trusted? Meanwhile, elsewhere, young Liena, searching for her uncle Balthasar, makes a gruesome discovery. An ancient temple has been stormed by the servants of a mysterious nobleman, and together with her uncle she has to fight a demoness they summoned. But who is after the temple's secrets? Neither Lynx nor Liena suspects that they will soon become entangled in a web of lies and intrigue.

A Gate into Eternity is a fantasy rpg adventure with two different protagonists that in the first chapter find themselves in trouble with brigands, so they decide to join forces. The game features a unique combat system, very similar to Grandia, and treats the player to full-screen character displays. The game also features custom hand drawn portraits for the major characters. Many players stated that the story is so complex that you might even have to play the game twice to fully grasp everything, in any case the game is a demo do don't expect to reach an epilogue.

Random Fact: the game includes two pre-made saves that the author advises to use after completing this version. These will let the player see a couple of unfinished regions not visitable in the demo, and experience few extra maps and dialogues.

Final Verdict: while I wasn't a fan of the combat system and the custom menus used (I think they are well done, but it takes more time using them than the default menu system), I instead liked the puzzles and mapping. And the story was also pretty interesting and captivating, with some unexpected events and turns.
