Axis Saga - The Angelic Demon by unknown

Keros and his sister Rasya were in the town of Lumina when they received a letter from their mother to come home. She requires them to get some supplies, but this will be just the beginning of a great adventure for the two siblings.

Meanwhile Rasya is having some strange dreams about a mysterious hooded swordsman that may be linked to her past...

Axis Saga is a classic rpgmaker fantasy rpg: after an intro that is about a series of characters we'll encounter during the game, the adventure starts with the two siblings travelling. This first part is probably the hardest, since some enemies are difficult to avoid and the two young heroes aren't exactly tough. After surviving this brutal starting part, things will become a little easier. The game uses resources from various sources, but these are used competently. On the other hand the game is a little buggy in some parts.

Random Fact: Shift key changes the movement speed. The 1 key is instead used to jump in some areas.
Also, if anyone knows who is the author of this game please tell me so I can credit the developer.

Final Verdict: another fantasy demo that wasn't completed, and sadly one whose developer is unknown at least for now.

Robosaga by unknown (italian)

The evil General together with his henchman Ashura commands the alien invasion of planet Earth. But the humans are ready, Tetsuya Tsurugi, the pilot of Great Mazinger, the robot designed by Dr. Kenzo Kabuto is the one that will start the counterattack to save Japan. However to defeat the alien army he will have to recruit other pilots and their robots: Hiroshi Shiba with Jeeg, Ryo with Getter Robo, and many others.

Robosaga is a homage to the robots of the anime, presenting a character able to recruit various heroes. And there is a reason to do this, since each robot has some kind of power, like being able to repair items, move boulders or swim in low water. This allows to reach normally unreachable areas and progress.
The game also uses a side-view custom battle system, a couple of years before Rpgmaker 2003 made its default system.

Random Fact: enemy robots have often silly names, like Gutalax, that's very similar to Guttalax, a stimulant laxative medication used for the short-term treatment of occasional constipation.

Final Verdict:
a classic Italian fangame developed using RPG Maker. It is most prominently featured in the Italian indie and fangame development community (such as on the Rpg²S Forum) as an example of what can be built using the engine's older iterations.

K.A.M.R.A.D. by unknown (russian)

War: a group of soldiers are fighting a desperate offensive against their enemies. The opposing army may be large, but our protagonists, a group of grunts that for some reason have really big hair, won't stop until the war is won.

K.A.M.R.A.D. or KAMRAD is a really peculiar rpg since it's not a classic fantasy rpg: we play as a blue haired soldier in a warzone, that starts alone with some temporary allies, but later he will be able to add some permanent companions to his squad of maximum four members. As expected the game is a realistic scenario without monsters, magic nor mystery. Just the grim reality of war.
The game uses the classic Rpgmaker combat system with some custom animation, and also the graphics are custom for the most part, giving a peculiar unique look to the game.

Random Fact: the enemies are all soldier sprites ripped from Operation Wolf, a a 1987 light gun shooter video game developed and published by Taito for arcades that was ported to many home systems.

Final Verdict: a really peculiar and unique game. If you know russian, try it. Surely one of the few games that doesn't use some realistic graphics opposed to the usual chibi or super deformed RTP characters.

Vaporwave Simulator by Unknown

Vaporwave Simulator is a game made in RPG Maker 2003, with its aesthetics jokingly and sincerely based off the vaporwave trend a few years ago. You are "You," and you lost your sunglasses, and you can't be hip with the trends without your sunglasses. Though, there's something more serious in the weirdness if you dig deeper...

Vaporwave Simulator is a surreal Rpgmaker game in which the protagonist has to explore a surreal landscape filled with weird characters to find a pair of sunglasses. The plot is an excuse to a series of bizarre situations and encounters. The graphics are a colorful mix of various edits and rips. The game has no combat nor minigames, it's a sort of walking simulator.

Random Fact: the game was made in 2016 by an unknown developer that wishes to remain anonymous and recovered and hosted by Scitydreamer.

Final Verdict: this a rather unique game from a now defunct site. While not very long or innovative, it has a distinct charms with its unique aestetics and sounds. It's a game worth remembering, since it tries doing something that's not seen often.

Huperternal-2005 by unknown (russian)

Huperternal 2005 begins with our protagonist, a prisoner, being sent inside an underground base, handcuffed inside a monorail. The army quarantined the area since the compound, where some civilians like scientists and other employees are still trapped, was overrun by mutant creatures. After an incident the prisoner frees himself and start exploring the area…

Huperternal 2005 is an action game with real-time combat: the protagonist can attack monsters with melee weapons and firearms, but he has also to avoid traps and jump over obstacles. There are some dialogues with innocent bystanders, but most of the game is about exploring the base, avoiding or destroying the monstrous mutated creatures. Game uses a custom made interface, custom graphics for the monsters, and some edited sprite (the protagonist faceset for example is a rip from Dragonball).

Random Fact: I have no idea about who is the creator of this game since there is no mention anywhere. Maybe someonethat familiar with old russian rpgmaker of the 2005-2006 would know. I guess!

Final Verdict: this is a rpgmaker action-adventure that fortunately isn't as combat intensive as I feared. The setting is pretty interesting, a sci-fi horror setting with some similarities with the world of Half Life (the outside areas seen in the intro look like Black Mesa, it's an underground facility with scientists trapped with monsters... pretty similar I'd say!), only darker and more violent. In the end this was a pretty interesting demo.
